The picturesque, medieval village of Ramatuelle is located on a hill near to Saint-Tropez. This village oozes history, with its old houses, covered with fragrant blooming Bougainville, built all around the historic centre enclosed by a beautiful old city walls with authentic entrance gate. The most important monument of Ramatuelle is the Notre Dame church, built in the 16th century, with a clock tower that was also used as belvedere. At the central square of the village, several restaurants and cafes with terraces can be found, where you can sit down, have a drink and watch the locals play pétanque. However, Ramatuelle is mostly known for the famous beach of Pampelonne; five kilometres of golden sandy beach and crystal-clear water. More than 25 beach bars can be found here, including the fashionable Tahiti Plage and Club 55. If you love music, you should visit Ramatuelle during summer, when the Jazz à Ramatuelle festival takes place. Ramatuelle can be reached by flying to Toulon or Nice and from there taking the car.
