Saint-Tropez is a famous, former fishermen’s village located on the Côte d’Azur in the Var department. This place became famous due to Brigitte Bardot, movies from Louis de Funes and is nowadays popular amongst the glitterati. For many years, artists have lived here and in summer, celebrities can be spotted here. The beaches and marina of Saint-Tropez are fabulous and in high season full of expensive yachts. Here, many nice restaurants, cafés and terraces can be found, which offer a great view! The citadel of Saint-Tropez is a real attraction, which was built in the 16th / 17th century, as well as the 18th century Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church, built in Romanesque-Byzantine style. Some shopping can be done in the shopping district near the old town or near the port, in the streets called Rue Gambetta and Rue Francois Sibili. If you prefer to visit a nice market, this is possible on Tuesday and Saturday, on the Place de Lices or on the Place Aux Herbes, which takes place every morning, where fish, vegetables and fruits are sold. Another thing that must be done during your stay at Saint-Tropez is spending a day at the beach. The most popular beach is Pampelonne beach, but Plages La Gaye, La Ponche and de la Fontanette are options as well. Many activities at these beaches can be found like windsurfing, sailing, jet skis and power boats. The most easy option to reach Saint-Tropez is to fly to Nice and from there drive to Saint-Tropez.
